Remote Area Medical

RAM Clinic Partnership | Donations, Volunteers & Registration

The Area-Wide Women’s Ministries Leadership are partnering with the Brinklow SDA Church as they host an upcoming Remote Area Medical (RAM) Clinic in Takoma Park, Maryland, October 17–18.

 

There are two key areas to support this RAM Clinic partnership:

(1) Specific Donations and collection efforts, and

 

(2) Volunteer Registration, including a step-by-step registration guide to help you navigate the RAM volunteer sign-up process.

MISSION:

Remote Area Medical provides free medical, dental, and vision care through pop-up clinics made possible largely through the service of volunteers. 

​

SPECIFIC DONATION:

At this time, we are asking to focus collection efforts in three specific areas:

 

  • Laundry Detergent

  • Small Toiletries & Bath Soap

  • Diapers

 

Laundry detergent will support the on-site laundry services being provided. The bath soap and small toiletry items will support guests who will have an opportunity to shower while at the clinic. The diapers will be distributed to families served through the clinic, with a goal of helping to fill a large school bus full of diapers.

Let’s really rally around this effort! Let’s contribute generously and see what we can accomplish when we, alongside our churches, families, friends, and communities, work together.

 

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED

At this time, the primary volunteer needs are clinic setup on Friday, October 16, and clinic breakdown/take down on Sunday, October 18.

 

Please do not think of setup and breakdown as lesser ways to serve. This is the work that helps make the clinic possible and allows the entire operation to function successfully. Before hundreds of people can be served, someone has to help prepare the space; and when the clinic ends, many hands are needed to help bring everything to a successful close.

Anyone who plans to volunteer must register through Remote Area Medical.

1. Go to the RAM Website >>> https://www.ramusa.org/   

Visit RAMUSA.org and select the red Volunteer button located in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

From there, select Register to Volunteer. You should then see Remote Area Medical Volunteer Registration at the top of the registration page.

 

2. Complete Your Personal Information

Begin by selecting your appropriate prefix/title (Miss, Mrs., Dr., etc.). Please do not skip this field, as you may receive an error message if a prefix/title is not selected.

 

Then fill out the requested:

  • Contact information

  • Demographics and background information

  • T-shirt size

  • Emergency contact information

 

Please be sure to select your T-shirt size so that you will be able to receive a volunteer T-shirt once available, and do not forget to provide an emergency contact.

 

3. Select Your Profession/Volunteer Classification

Unless you are qualified and registering to provide dental, medical, veterinary, or vision services, please select Profession/Volunteer: General Support

Then, in the supplemental section, select: Profession/Classification: General Support

 

4. Find the Takoma Park Event

Under Events and Assignments, limit the event list by state and select:

Local USA: Maryland - You may leave the event type set to All Events or select Clinics.

There are currently two open events listed, so be sure to select: Takoma Park, Maryland 2026

 

5. Select the Day(s) You Can Serve

You may volunteer for Friday, Sunday, or both, based on your availability.

 

FRIDAY — Clinic Setup

Select the Friday clinic setup/general support assignment.

There is a need for volunteers to assist with setup on Friday from approximately 9:00 AM–6:00 PM. If you are available for any portion of that time, your help will be appreciated.

 

SATURDAY

At this time, the available Saturday volunteer slots are filled. You may select Not Attending This Day. If the registration system offers a waitlist option and you would like to be considered if an opening becomes available, you may choose that instead.

 

SUNDAY — Clinic Take Down

If you are available to assist on Sunday, select the Clinic Take Down assignment.

The RAM registration site currently lists the assignment window as 11:00 AM–6:00 PM. However, Sunday is a full clinic day. The actual breakdown may begin closer to 2:00 PM and continue until approximately 7:00 PM or until the work is completed.

Please keep that in mind when indicating your Sunday availability. Your availability to assist during any portion of the needed breakdown period will be a blessing.

 

6. Documents and Waiver

Please carefully review the Liability Waiver, complete the required signature section, and follow the remaining registration prompts.

 

7. Save and Submit

Review your information, then save and submit your registration.

 

8. Look for Your Registration Confirmation

Once your registration has been successfully submitted, you should receive a registration confirmation on the screen. You should also receive a registration confirmation via email.

Please keep your confirmation email for your records and stay close to your email for any additional instructions, updates, or alerts sent directly from Remote Area Medical.
